POLAND IN THE SPOTLIGHT WITH ITS FAMOUS BABKA

The cake's name, derived from the word "babushka," means "grandmother." Babka's braids are reminiscent of the round-pleated skirts worn by Eastern European grandmothers.

For centuries, babka was a celebratory cake and a symbol of household prosperity and wealth, as it took up to 40 egg yolks to fill a single pan.

 

Rest assured, today's babka is much lighter, but our recipe is still just as delicious!
